More Games From Disney, Maybe?

“I’m here for one specific reason: to empower you to do really unique things with our [catalog],We want to tap into the power of creatives across the industry.” – Sean Shoptaw.

The senior vp games and interactive experiences of Disney updated on the studio’s new approach to gaming, emphasizing on original storytelling and “reimagining” classic characters and settings.

This may conclude that Disney is opening their vault  in leading the video gaming industry. The decision was able to made due to their success in selling out most of the classy gaming products.

Making EA, Respawn Entertainment Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order and their Marvel’s Spider-Man from the Insomniac Games, Shoptaw made a declaration on the importance of original storytelling and “reimagining” what the characters and settings could be.

The Disney exec extended an invitation to game developers in the room and throughout the industry to “come and play” with its extensive catalog of franchises, which now include many 20th Century (formerly 20th Century Fox) properties such as Avatar and Bob’s Burgers, among many others.

“Sometimes we want to do something that’s more gameplay-driven or out the box but then we have to sit with them and find a middle ground. Same with everything – combat, exploration, story, all the departments have to collaborate. We’re trying to make an authentic game, so we’re trying to stay on that level. Authentic’s the word.”

With this, maybe we could really expect more gaming adventures with Disney. Which other movie that you truly hope Disney could help in turning it into a gaming fantasy and why? I hope you could share it with us!
